Professor Simon Wright MBE

Prof Wright has been a principal partner of Glencairn Dental group of practices since 2002. He is a Founding Director of both Dental Implant Resource Ltd, and the ICE Hospital and Postgraduate Traning Centre. He completed the Trafford One Year Implant Course in 2004 and has gone on to complete his Diploma in Implant Dentistry and his MSc in Dental Implantology. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College Of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Prof Wright has a personal chair at the University of Salford, awarded for his practice and teaching in Dental Implantology.  He is the Clinical and Module Lead for the Masters of Dental Implantology at Salford and Edge Hill University. He lectures nationally and internationally for Astra Tech, Straumann, the ITI, Mersey Deanery, and on the MSc courses at Salford, Manchester, Cardiff and Sheffield. Furthermore, he has been invited as a keynote speaker to many national and international Congresses and Forums. He is the co-author of the National Standards in Implant Dentistry - to be published later this year.

Prof Wright has won awards for his research papers, his current research interest areas are
Patient Related Outcome Measures (PROM):
Prof Wright has gained national recognition for his work developing tools to measure PROM in dentistry. He is the chief clinical investigator of multi-centre research project investigating the ways that we can measure the benefit of dental implant treatment. He has developed an online patient tool, to audit and report upon the effectiveness of dental treatment. This is being developed for use in all areas of dentistry.
Peri-Implant Disease:
Prof Wright has written the algorithms that have been adopted as the standard protocols for the treatment of Peri-Implant disease. He has established a recognised referral centre for the treatment of both Mucocitis and Peri-Implantitis. He has co-authored the 2 guidance papers which have become established as reference papers in their respective domains. He is currently the clinical lead, investigating the outcome of a series of a case studies.
Human Factors and Implant Dentistry:
Prof Wright has a keen interest in surgical performance and has been invited to the participate in the first ‘European Congress About Human Factors and Medicine’ in Paris. He has developed Human Factors as a major research theme at the university and is leading the National Drive for Patient Safety. He has an MBE for his work in this area.

Prof Wright was also the Director of Education for the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI).   Implant Dentistry is a postgraduate discipline and the structure, content and delivery of the Education and Training Programmes of the organisation is the responsibility of Prof Wright. He was also Editor of ARK, the online ADI Educational package.

Prof Wright has also a keen interest in teaching and is a trainer for young Foundation Dentists and nurses. He has written many courses for nurses and dentists, and has been gained his Postgraduate Teaching Certificate and Fellowship to the Higher Education Academy. He has personally trained and mentored over 800 Dentists and Nurses, and currently hosts the regional Study Clubs.As well as Implant Dentistry Prof Wright is passionate about the NHS, and is very involved with dental politics. He has recently retired as the Chairman of the Local Engagement Network for the Wirral (the committee that advises on NHS Dentistry), the Wirral representative of the Local Professional Network (the local branch of the Commissioning board for the Department of Health), and a member of the Dental Reference Group (advising on contractual issues). I qualified in 1996 from Liverpool University and have worked full-time in General Practice since then. I am enthusiastic and committed to my dentistry, to my practice and to FD training and education. I have furthered my dental knowledge and ability by taking the MJDF exam (2011), MSc in Advanced General Dental Practice (2012), Certificate in Implantology (2012), Short –term ortho training in Inman Aligner, Six Months Smiles and Cfast. I also place botox and fillers.

I firmly believe in NHS dentistry and it is the core of our practice, but I also enjoy the challenges and skills involved with mixed practice.
Glenside Dental Practice is a small, but thriving practice, with over 7,000 registered patients. It has 3 ambidextrous surgeries and is modern as it was only opened in 2009.

I own a small-holding in North Wales with my husband Peter. We have 4 horses, 11 sheep, 2 goats and 2 cats. Riding is my passion- and I compete in many disciplines including dressage, show-jumping and cross-country for the local riding club.

Harinder qualified as a Dental Technician at King’s College Dental Hospital in London. She worked at the Eastman Dental Postgraduate Institute in London, before becoming Chief Dental Technician at Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’s Hospitals.
After a few years, she decided to study Dentistry and graduated from King’s College, University of London. She started working as a Dentist in the North-West, having moved here with her husband and two sons. Harinder has passed her MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
At present she is studying to complete her MSC in Dental Implantology.
She is Principal Partner and Clinical Director at Heathfield Dental Practice and is a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Manchester.

Dr Jack Roberts graduated from Newcastle Dental School in 2017 and joined the Glencairn practice group shortly after. Since graduation Jack has been awarded various postgraduate qualifications and became a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery Edinburgh in 2018. Recently Jack has been working towards a Masters Degree in Dental Implantology at Salford University and also a Postgraduate Certificate in Endodontics at Chester University. If you are concerned regarding the appearance of your teeth please feel free to discuss this with Dr Roberts as he also has an interest in both short term orthodontics and digitally designed cosmetic veneers. Jack is passionate about dentistry and demonstrates this through his engagement with various research projects. Jack was one of the lead clinicians in a nationwide research study carried out in conjunction with Bangor University and is currently investigating the risk factors that influence patient anxiety levels during implant treatment.  I began my Dental Nurse training with Dr Wright in 2008 when I was 30 and have since successfully completed the NVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing and am also a qualified Dental Radiographer and an orthodontic nurse.

I am the lead Radiographer for the Glencarin Group, this is very serious role as it not only involves taking the radiogpraghs, but being responsible for the safety and governmental requirments
associated with radiation.

I live with my partner, James, my two children and Milo the Puggle. Most of my spare time is spent ferrying children to football, swimming, friends houses, the cinema or arguing with my teenage daughter, I also spend a lot of time (and money) in Tescos, should I have anytime to myself I love to curl up on the couch with a glass of wine and a good book!
